There is a male enhancement infomercial with a NASCAR driver in it on every night I think I am going to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. I don't have to watch it!

Lot of quality outdoor shows out there if you weed thru the poor ones. Shows that actually are not about horn porn but enjoying the outdoors regardless if game is taken or not. I don't subscribe to any magazine and understand the print media business is on its death bed.

I agree with the magazines issues..but the article is a bit over the top..By promoting hunting on these tv shows I see more young men and women interested in hunting than I can ever remember..I think Tiffiany has inspired many women to take hunting up with their boyfriends, fathers or brother etc...Les needs to take a chill pill..

As I said I do not take but two magazines and NAW is not one of them. I did pick it up at the grocery store today to see what this is all about.
Now for a purist on whitetails I can see how that they would want to keep the magazine as whitetails only.
The editor did say that the 16 pages of turkeys was "in addition to the regular magazine". He called it a "bonus section" that did not replace one page of the whitetail part.. Reading between the lines it appears to me that this will not be a monthly feature but rather a seasonal one.
I don't have a dog in this fight as I don't take the magazine.

TURKEYS?? ? North American Whitetail always got one thing right....they covered just about every super buck taken every year. Why would they start doing turkey stuff? Sad. The cover of that magazine, back in 1991, caught my eye with a photograph of the Minnesota Monarch and sparked my interest in hunting.

I read too that the turket portion was in addition to the normal deer magazine, if that is true, why is this month's as thin as ever? Bottom line, is they saw dollar signs from turkey gear advertisements!

I don't take the magazine either Woody..and I'm bout to cancel my Bowhunter subscription..I'm sorry but I get sick of seeing New Jersey and East Coast Urban deer hunting every issue..not only that but that magazine has went down hill big time...I subscribe to Deer and Deer Hunting (good one), Peteresens Bowhunting is another I take..both a good magzines.IMO..I wouldn't mind the turkey hunting articles though, that wouldn't bother me.

Not a complete list and hard to say what others would enjoy, but other than the two mentioned above previously you would have: OUTDOOR Channel Duck Commander Benellis America Birdhunter Eastmans Hunting Journal Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures MacMillan River Adventures Management Advantage Roger Raglin Outdoors PURSUIT Channel Arrow Affliction Deer and Deer Hunting Fist Full of Dirt Get in the Game Guns @ Ammo Petersons Hunting Adventure Predator Quest Quality Deer Management

got this back from the e-mail i sent naw.. maybe you guys should also send in an e-mail and tell them how you feel.. Hi James,
Sorry to hear your disappointment; you aren't the only person unhappy with the strange occurrence of a turkey article in deer hunting magazine. We on the online side of things are passing all the feedback along to the editorial staff, which is monitoring the situation closely.
We appreciate the feedback. Be sure to know that the magazine editors are listening.
Thanks,

I recieved my reply from da man himself....
Steve:
Thanks for your comments. Although we¹re sorry you didn¹t care for the bonus turkey coverage, we appreciate your viewpoint and welcome the input.
It¹s worth noting that the turkey content was added to what otherwise would have been 64 pages of deer-only coverage. (As a subscriber, you no doubt know that the final issue of the year normally contains 64 pages, rather than the 80 we just published.) So the additional pages didn¹t come at the expense of any of our usual deer coverage; they simply were an add-on for those who might want such information.
I haven¹t hunted turkeys since I started working at NAW more than 25 years ago, so I have no personal interest in covering this species. It just doesn¹t interest me. That said, reader surveys suggest that around 90,000 NAW readers do hunt turkeys. The bonus pages were meant to provide information on a second species they enjoy hunting during the ³off² season for deer.
This is the first time we¹ve run such content in our magazine, and it was purely an experiment. As with everything else we do, we¹ll take reader input into account before deciding whether or not to include such coverage again. Thanks again for letting us know how you feel about this matter, and good luck in your deer hunting next fall.

"arrogant biologists who shoot three-year-old bucks and call them six or seven to save face." Gee, wonder who this references........could it be, yes I believe it is the infamous Dr. James Kroll! Has anyone else watched a show where "Dr. Deer" can't kill a buck on his own, then resorts to baiting and/or having the deer driven to him?......so so sad.
