Nice looking Texas deer. 5.5 and field dressed out to 110. Sure puts into perspective how great the deer here in Indiana are when you can get 2.5 to 3.5 buck that will field dress out anywhere from 150 to 200 lbs; 5.5 year old does are bigger too.
Like the Javalina pics. To bad that they were not shoot-able.
But above all the trip alone sounds like a lot of fun and sounds like you enjoyed it immensely.

It really was a great trip and my friend and I both had a blast. For me, the best thing was never knowing what was going to pop out of the brush next. I highly recommend putting in an application for anyone who wants to do an out of state hunt for a very reasonable price. Geez I've killed button bucks that yeilded more meat then that!!!! One of the other guys on the hunt shot a 1.5 yo 5 or 6 pointer that field dressed 78 lbs. and my hunting partner made that exact statement to him. ;D One thing to keep in mind though, it was post rut and according to the biologist my buck would have likely weighed closer to 140 lbs. dressed. Either it was still some expensive meat!!

More than I can afford. Ha Ha.
Even at 140 it would still be small here. What maybe a 1.5 to 2 year old buck and still smaller than a lot of really mature does.
Shhh lets keep this quiet, we have good deer even those without huge antlers.

They had pictures of all the deer taken this past season in the previous hunts posted on one wall of the office along with the weights and gross B&C scores. IIRC, the heaviest buck was 150 lbs. and many were in the mid to high 130s. I think they said 170 lbs. was the largest body weight ever recorded at the WMA.
They are definitely a lot smaller in the body and smaller in rack size on average, but there were some really, really nice bucks on the property. I think I was the among the only ones that didn't see a trophy class buck on the hunt. The antlers and mounts they had in the office, all found dead or confiscated, was really impressive. Even some of the racks that would have counted as management bucks were very impressive although they wouldn't have scored well. I wish I had a good flash on my camera so I could have taken some pictures of those racks.

Fine looking deer and neat land scape. I do like Indiana's version better though, corn fed!
