I saw where someone on another site said the reason Rep Friend wants to extend the season is so the high fence operations can hunt more days. Is this propaganda or something that is real?
"Here is a thought on his motivation..... the high fence deer killing operations may only shoot during the regular deer seasons. they may use any legal Indiana deer weapon from October 1 thru the end of season, wouldn't it be veasable he wants more hunting days so these guys have more days to operate?"

LOL.. I read that too. First - consider the source of that statement. He and his running buddy are well known for using some sort of scare tactics to advance their agendas. Is that part of Rep. Friend's thinking? Who knows, surely not the poster. I find it somewhat funny in that these two say that they want the IDNR to manage the deer herd, but are now telling others to contact their local legislators if they don't like the bonus permit numbers in their county. ? Which is it? I truly believe that we are looking at longer seasons regardless of what Rep. Friend or the poster wants.

High fence legislation was not on the agenda...this time. However the first 3 hours and 40 minutes was taken up with allowing the Division of Forestry to do their job in maintaining the health of the state forests and the wackos that want to stop them. Very entertaining.

Actually, no. I'm calling ALL tree huggers wackos. It's not just restricted to Blommington although they seem to be the most organized.

I bet that sure was interesting Jack. Sure wish they would log HNF by the house! *grumbles..*
So, doing something about the deer herd..do you know what that means? Sept. 1st archery with crossbows included? Early ML season? Late season any firearm doe reduction? There could be quite a few possibilities there!

That's what will come out at the NRC meeting in January when the Advisory Council makes it's recommendations to the full commission. www.in.gov/nrc/2350.htmJack P.S. Jack, are these NRC meetings open to public attendence?
So the NRC makes it's recommendations, does the commision automatically accept these recommendations and make them law?
Sorry for my ignorance but thanks to you I am learning!

The Natural Resources Advisory Council will be making the recommendations to the Natural Resources Commission (NRC). It's up to the NRC to act on those recommendations. We have some clue as to what some of the recommendations are but I don't have an absolute confirmed list from the Ad Council yet.
Most all of the NRC and Ad Council meetings are open to the public as are the hearings on any of the proposed changes to the hunting/fishing regs.

Just curious. Why would you want them to log out HNF? They almost clear cut part of HCF a couple years ago,You cant hunt this area anymore, nothing but briars. If they do,money should be used to lower property taxes.

Jack how does almost clear cutting help maintain the Forest? Get on I 64 west of Corydon and drive 7.7 miles and look what the state done to this property ,plus walk it .Then get back to me. Were all the trees diseased? Not being an A>S>S ,but its destroyed. Select cut I can see,Clear cutting? Check it out
