Why are Archery hunters who archery hunt during the general firearms part of the season, not required to use a general firearms tag?

Because archery season is open.
I suppose you could buy a firearms tag and tag your bow-killed buck with that tag if you like.

Because both seasons run concurrently and an archer would be using the specific weapon legal for the license they carry. h.h.

Because it is legal to do so.....

But suppose all a guy has to hunt with is a bow, and the only license he buys is a firearms license. Is it ok to kill a buck on that license with a bow? This has me curious now.

oldhoyt-it is illegal to have a firearms tag and hunt with a bow even during firearms season...
Glad I don't have to buy any tags any longer, Lifetime License!

The reason I ask is..........
Muzzleloader hunters are allowed to use muzzleloaders during general firearms season, but they are not allowed to use a muzzleloader tag during that time.
I say it is injustice..........
They should require archery hunters to purchase a general firearms tag if they are going to archery hunt during general firearms
OR
They should allow ML hunters the option of useing the ML tag during general firearms.
Fair is fair!!!!
I am also a lifetime license holder

a Muzzleloader is a firearm though. A bow is not.

OK thanks for that info. Makes absolutely no sense to me, why should the DNR care if a guy has a bow but does not own a gun. But what the heck do I know.
Cambygsp - look at it this way. The guy hunting with an archery license can hunt during archery season, which happens to run through firearms season. Nothing unfair about that.
And, a ML is a firearm. No reason it should not be legal to use in firearms season.
The ML license allows you to hunt an additional season.

Same reason you wouldn't use an archery tag during firearms season?

You do if you buy an Encore camby.
Why are you moaning about something that stupid? Just to stir? There are two seasons going on at the same time. Get it?

Early archery season runs Oct. 1st to Nov. 29 Yep... It is not muzzleloader season yet so a muzzleoader tag can not be used yet..If and when muzzleoader season is extended to the first day of the general firearm season then that muzzleloader tag would be good. Me too..

Seems like when even the Resident hunters are confused, then it's way past due for a tag system redue? ?? I'd think that if the buck limit is the determining factor, then one tag would be good for ALL of the three seasons, and it wouldn't hurt to throw in a dang free doe tag..........kinda like most other states are doing.
