Enjoy your land next to the state park and hunt it like you would like. Shoot place a 12 point restriction on your own hunting land I don't care. When you want to start pushing this crap that IN needs to be more like....IL, OH, IA, KY,....or where ever and wanting to place more restrictions on deer hunting you loose all respect from me. None the less on your very first post. I smell a troll.

your one of the few Ill hunters that I have ever heard that didn't believe that Ill's gun season had more to do with being anti firearms and kissing Chi towns politicians ideas than deer management. Oh well each to his own. Oh yeah me personally I could care less about how big a set of antlers a deer has. I hunt for meat not bone. And I haven't seen a antlered buck in 3 years.

Ok ladies and gents. I am not trying to get into a ing match with you guys. I am simply stating that we all want to kill larger bucks. I dont think you guys can argue with that. All im saying is that I feel Indiana should be a little more careful with the herd management. And yes, maybe it is for selfish reasons. We have lots of bucks on our farm and we do set aside sanctuary. I have clover plots, standing corn , milo and beans. How can you guys be so quick to disagree with me. Please dont tell me that WE all dont want to harvest more mature bucks. How about a 8 pt limit on the bucks in the state park? I HAVE to live in Illinois for my employment but if I could Id be in Indiana. AND dont get me started on the Pike county Illinois outfitters, its a sham. They should be regulated and charged thousands for their permits, hell their making a few grand a guy for a hunt. The days of banging on doors and getting permission is over. Its really sad. I am fortunate to have good ground in Illinois to hunt. But unfortunately deer hunting is becoming way too comercialized. We cant legally sell deer how can we buy deer hunts? Yep, I want to have to pay a few grand a year here in IN like most in IL do just to get land to hunt on. You praise IL and it's big deer in one post then bash it in another. It is getting bad here ion IN, but a guy can still find land to hunt here by just getting permission. I would like to know the % of hunters in IL that have to lease land just to have a place to hunt compared to those that get to hunt non public land for free. Killing a BC buck every year would be nice, but not at the cost of shortening my season. Yes I hunt mature bucks but seldom kill one, but I do enjoy the 32 day I get the opportunity to do it here in IN

hamr504 , are you sure that the communist state you live in actually allows the use of guns? Hell we can carry ours for personal protection here, oh wait Obomma took your right away there.
You might say this has nothing to do with a deer / park reduction hunt but then again you did compare Indiana to Illinois , so I thought maybe we should do a bit more of a comparison ;D

BTW - I was told that the take at Prophetstown was 60% antlerless and 40% antlered. About what the state wide % is. They were well pleased with that percentage.
