Okay looking to start making my own jerky and summer sausage. I have looked at a few things on line and just getting prices and trying to figure out what's best. I was wondering if there was anything that I could use that would make both? I know that I could use the stove but don't care to have the stove being used for 5-6 hours and cracked or open because I have 2 young ones running around the house. So was wanting to buy something and put it in the garage to use. So is there soemthing out there that will do both or will I have to get seperate units one for smoking and one for dehydration? Thanks guy's. Get a lot of help on here and learning new things all the time. BB

If you got a smoker, why would you need a dehydrator? A smoker can do both.

Well I didn't know what I needed. And I didn't now if a smoker would hold the sausage. Because I like making the big roles that are like 24 inch long... None of them are deep enough. Just wanting the info. But if I can use a stove for sausage and keep it closed then I might just get a dehydrator... Dad has one but it's just a small one and he can only do about a pound at a time and everyone eats it to fast he says.... I don't know.

I see. My buddy made a smoker out of an old steel frodge. He can hang probably 12 3# rolls in it at a time.
