Today was my day. I harvested the biggest buck of my life. (probably on a go forward basis as well) I was in the stand before sunrise, as usual. Up until this point in the season, I have had zero shots at deer. Seen quite a few, but it was either too early, too late, too far away, too much brush in the way, Etc. Today was perfect. 6:25 A.M. 37 degrees. wind from the northwest at about 7mph. I was hunting the west side of a two track in a 30 yard wide fence row. The buck came from the north at a dead trot at 25 yards. He hit the shooting lane, I mouth bleated...he stopped. Now I had seen this buck two days prior about 3/4 mile away and commented to my hunting buddies that it was an honor to have just seen a buck like this in the wild (never have in all the years I have been an outdoorsman). So, I release the Victory arrow tipped with a 100 grain 2 blade rage, and drop it right behind the front leg. The autopsy showed double lung, and the top of the heart. He still went 200 yards. The arrow broke off on both sides and the broadhead was under the skin on the opposite side. I am humbled to have had the chance at this deer, and give thanks for the skill to have made the shot!
Someone please posty pic's for me!!!! I can email them to you, just shoot me an address, and I'll get them out.
