I often wonder what it would be like to get paid to travel around the country and kill multiple deer like that on a regular basis with what appears to be little to no effort.
I mean....I spend hours and hours scouting, positioning stands, sitting in trees and I've never seen anything like that in my life. She shows up to a place, gets walked to a stand, and drops a monster.
I wonder if it takes away from the whole experience. I wonder if they still enjoy taking these deer or if it becomes redundant? I think if it became a job and the the thrill went away, I wouldn't want to do that anymore.

It was on their place in Iowa!!! So he and she scouted planted hunderds of acres of food plots 2 times a year hang stands and scouting cameras, plus what do they do for a living? They hunt everyday, if they want, most of us don't do that......my dad hunted all this past week and he's seen deer that I've never seen on our property even though I have 10 cuddebacks, 11 stand hung, food plots planted, etc. I agree on guided hunts it is a little different but that is what people pay for is to have opportunity at big deer or whatever they are hunting, but in this case they did it on there own....Plus Iowa still hasn't let anyone carry a gun into the woods after deer this year!! Something Indiana should consider to grow deer like that, and their gun seasons are short and start in December....I bow hunt, gun hunt and muzzleloader hunt but the positioning and timing of our season prohibits us from having as many big deer as Iowa IMO. BTW - that is a stud but like a mid-160's deer and Indiana has a lot of them! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I wasn't necessarily talking about her husband..... I also didn't say anything was wrong with what they do. I do however watch their show a lot of the hunts are guided. There is no problem with that either. What I'm asking is I wonder if after you kill your 25th monster buck.....does it become redundant? Maybe not, I have no idea. Don't take my post as a bash. I was just wondering out loud ;D I often wonder what it would be like to get paid to travel around the country and kill multiple deer like that on a regular basis with what appears to be little to no effort. I can't imagine having a Wife show me up like that. I think it would ruin my self confidence. :-)

No doubting the fact the word IOWA has a lot to do with their success and also managing a lot of good ground helps. But they both seem to put in the time and effort just like most of us, obviously with more resources. I would love for IN to adopt their season structure and nr fees and availability, but the leasing would become prohibitive for a lot of us, public ground would be good. So, stick with mediocre IN ground that may give up a big one every few years, or go else where. I might have to leave the old lady on Christmas morning if Tiffany showed up in the driveway, she is hot!

You guys need to stop wishing for other state's seasons. We are killing some dandies in Indiana under the current season structure. You all want to take and take and take away from hunters. Without help from Anti's we will be restricted to a weekend of gun hunting. Lord help us if you all join forces with em..

They for sure have some good land. She has killed a bunch of those monsters. I agree about Iowa's seasons. If we really want a lot of big deer, the gun season needs to be shorter and later, especially later. Of course, I probably need the extra time because of my hours.

It all has to do with the access to good private land that has good resources and management. I have been hunting Indiana for 25 years now, mostly public land I have never killed anything scoring over 125". The last 2 years I have spent around 425 hours on stand and I have only seen ONE buck that was 3.5 yrs old. Yeah I know there are a few out there but when you hunt public land with lots of hunting pressure a mature buck is hard to come by. If a person has a big private tract to hunt with little or no pressure it is much easier to get on the big ones. I am not taking anything away from the TV shows but they are ALWAYS hunting on private land with an outfitter on managed lands. Thats a lot easier. I would like to have those guys come in my area and scout, put up stands and hunt. They would probably quit hunting.

Heck of a deer....again.
Does anyone believe that Indiana could have a better deer herd if the hunters themselves would pass on smaller bucks and try to manage the herd? Why does the DNR have to be the one to take on the responsiblity of creating bigger bucks for the hunters?
There was a 170"+ buck taken last season a few miles up the road from my house. On opening weekend of gun season you will find trucks parked all over the property. It gets bow hunted hard too. I don't hunt the area, but drive thru at night occasionally shinning the spotlight. There are always at least one or more bucks that would go 150" visible from just the road. Granted the property doesn't add up to most well managed grounds in Iowa, but I think we have it pretty good the way it is.
It is kind of funny to get on the internet and see people wishing we had what Iowa has and then get on the phone with my buddies from Alabama, Georgia, Florida or North Carolina and hear them wishing they had what we have. Wonder what the people from Iowa wish they had?

Wonder what the people from Iowa wish they had? The Iowa model is only desirable from the standpoint of wanting the maximum number of big bucks runnng around. If you are not hung up on that, then I think our season is better all around.
