I don't own a crossbow, but just saw mention of PSE's new crossbow upper receiver assembly that fits a standard AR-15 lower receiver, and thought I'd share the photo. I don't know any details about it other than the 412 FPS claim.

From all indications this "crossbow" is long, heavy and cumbersome. A novelty at best..

More later..

But novelties are, well, novel... and gives people one more "reason" to own an AR lower.
"No ossifer, I don't have any assault weapons... only this Tac-15 by PSE..."

Personally I hope the PSE AR -15 is a flop, and goes away real soon.Certainly they will be rejected in the hunting community. They are a detriment to those who love and hunt with Crossbows, and are trying to get more states to legalize or continue Hunting with Crossbows.

That seems a little extreme; they look heavy and cumbersome so I agree that they are unlikely to be big sellers. I doubt they will have an impact on anything - but, just like semi auto rifles the minute we start squabling among ourselves and don't support one portion of our sport we weaken all of it.

I didn't get to see this at the SHOT Show. I pooped out before I got to that booth.
Woodmaster handled it and shot it at the ATA Show and he said it was very cumbersome, heavy and loud. Not exactly what one would want in an archery deer hunting tool.
I doubt that anyone will be able to order one for a long time, if ever. My guess is that PSE has hand made the ones that they are showing around.
Supposedly this was made for the military and law enforcement. I can see absolutely no application for either venue. The bow is not quiet and does not kill instantly. What use would the military or LEOs have for it? Answer - none. My belief is that Pete Shepely just wanted to make one and really could not care less if it sold or not. OR if it hurt crossbow legalization or not. His bread and butter is vertical bows, not crossbows. There is no skin off his nose if there was no other legalization of crossbows anywhere. The TAC 15 , whether it hits production or not, will become the poster child of the anti-crossbow faction who already use the erroneous term crossGUN..
It supposedly shoots 400+fps but so does the Bowtech Stryker... which is flopping because of the same problems with this crossbow - cumbersome and weight.
There is some discussion as to the legality of the TAC 15 as to the lower unit. The BATF considers the lower units as firerams. Can a firearm modified to use a compound bow attachment be considered a firearm or a crossbow? Dunno, but I'll bet the DNRs will decide that one.

I think they should sell them to people making "Van Helsing" type movies. Only use I can see.

Practicality has nothing to do with it... I think the Tech is cool if for no other reason than its sheer audacity.. ;D

Maybe if they shortened it up a bit, but I kind of agree with hawkeye on it probably being a detriment. I don't see it becoming anything more than a conversation piece.

As well as a set of plans from '51 Pop Mec for a "pump action" magazine fed repeating crossbow...
Hmmm....

Okey Dokey..
I pulled this off of the Bowsite.
Evidently Tink Nathan was passing around the rumor/hype of the "one hole at 100 yards" only he streched it to 150 yards.
Bowriter (John Sloan) called Pete Shepley and asked him about these remarks. The following is the post by John:
"I have been on the road and just returned. If you are aware of the comment Tink Nathan made and attributed to Pete Shepley of PSE. It was as I suspected erroneous. I am sure Tink missunderstood.
The new PSE crossbow is exceptionaly accurate. However, it will not shoot two arrows in the same hole at 150 yards as purported to have been done according to Tink by Pete. Indoors, from a vise, it may...may...do that at 50 yards.
Pete appologizes for any misconception. He believes, from a vice, indoors at 150 yards, properly sighted in, it might shoot a five inch group."
What crossbows wont do that?
So much for rifle like accuracy.
