Hey All,
I was just wondering what calls you all carry? I will be taking the normal grunt and a fawn bleat, but also thinking of taking a predator call.
Maybe it will bring a yote close enough...Which predator call do you all like???
6 days and counting!!!!

The only calls I take are a mouth grunt made for bow hunting and a mouse squeaker. I don't want to use a predator call like dying rabbit because it will put deer on alert but a couple squeaks on the mouse call will get a coyote or ferel cat to come closer and deer wont pay attention to it. h.h.

I'm glad you started this thread Melissa. Since I have always gun hunted up until now I never worried about calls. Now that's changed. I'm thinking maybe I ought to get something; a doe bleat perhaps.

I agree with H.H. I wouldn't take a predator call since this might put the deer on edge. During early bow I usually take a doe bleat/grunt call and a buck grunt, just don't be aggressive with the buck grunt until later in the month

I use to have a can call and carried it for a couple years. Then one day i dropped it out of a tree and broke the end off. I don't miss it as I cant remember calling in any deer with it. h.h.

Hey I like the idea of a mouse squeaker. I was hoping to be able to get a yote in bow range if one happened to show up on the field.
Thanks,
Melissa

I'll be carrying a can for early season and add the grunt tube about the last week of Oct. In addition, something I always carry in the woods...... a turkey diaphram call. If I feel I'm making too much noise on the ground (crunching leaves) I stop and give a couple yelps. Deer seem to be calmed by turkey sounds IMO. When it comes to calling in a 'yote during daylight hours, a turkey call is hard to beat

Melissa: Knight and Hale have a video entitled "Calling all Coyotes" or something to that effect. I picked up a copy at Dick's Sporting Goods Store on the East Side of Evasnville, IN last spring. The VCR tape came with a coyote howler and a rubber corregated mouse squeaker. I called in a yote or two with the mouse squeaker and in the VCR tape the Knight Guy called up a coyote into bow ranges and shot one coyote in the hind leg. It ran for a long ways before it bleed to death. But it was a shot taken in heavy woods. I must tell you that that little mouse squeaker is very effective if you can get the coyotes in close. I watched one coyote hunting and catching a small field mouse up at the Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area last spring. I watched him though my Nikon Binoculars as he ate that mouse. Now I wish I had a video camera with me that evening. It would have made a good video. Hey All, I was just wondering what calls you all carry? Grunt tube then a rattle bag and bleat during rut. This year was the first time I have ever had any luck with a call though. Grunted blind and had a really nice 10 point run right in on top of me! He taste great! Should have the rest of him back from taxi in July. By the way, I used a grunt technique I heard about ON THIS SITE! Thanks Yall!

I don't go anywhere.... especially during the rut, without the can call. I had a small buck literally run in to that call last year.
