You can't go wrong with the tail end of October and the first week in November.

Most of the posts are saying somewhere in the first 10 days of Nov. I would tend to agree, and especially 5-7 days before gun season. The first fawn I saw this year could have only been a day old, so I counted back 199 days (I hope my justation period is correct or someone will slam me for sure) and it came out to Nov 15, 2007. If I had to schedule time off I would go for Nov. 3-10. No gun pressure yet and does should really be coming into estrous.

I would plan vacation for the seeking/chasing phases. That's when the bucks are travelling the most. When they are breeding, a buck will hang around with a hot doe for a whole day or two.
I saw plenty of chasing on last year's opening day of firearms.
Of course, hunting pressure can screw you up, but if you hunt land that is not hunted by others, you may do well to take that first week of firearms off.

Sweeeeet November. Most of my luck has come Nov. 3rd-8th. I wouldn't miss the first ten days of November for anything. That's when it's rockin in my neck of the woods.
