Boys, got back from my african safari, in limpopo, RSA, on July 16th. Here is some pics of the animals, I took, with my .45-70 guide gun, and 300 gr. handloaded nosler partitions. impala blesbok zebra warthog blue wildebeast kudu gemsbok 4 of us went, my son, my best friend, and his son. We took 30 animals on the 10 day hunt. Here is a pic with the skulls on the last day, before we left camp. Here is some pics of other animals we saw while hunting. giraffes white rhino small breeding herd of cape buffalo. waterbuck ostriches at waterhole. Here is a pic of one of the animals my son took, with his handi rifle, .30-06, and 180 gr. nosler partitions. red hartebeast. We were gone for 14 days. The safari was 10 days in length. Everything went perfect from beginning to end. All flights were on time, and enjoyable. My hats off to Delta. No lost luggage/guns. No problems with TSA or customs. No problems getting our gun permits in RSA. Here is who we hunted with. www.cruisersafaris.com/This is a very professional, 1st. class operation, that I would reccomend to anyone wanting to go on safari. Hope you enjoy the pics. Mad Dog

We booked a 10 day, 6 animal pkg., which included kudu,gemsbok,blue wildebeast,impala,warthog, and blesbok. $4675 plus VAT tax[$399] = $5074
Airline ticket $2083.00
extra animals [zebra] $950
tips and gifts $600
Total before any taxidermy $8707
Taxidermy and shipping home can get very expensive, depending on what you have done. I'm having 5 skull/plaque euro mts. done, and 4 flat skin rugs done. Cost $1860. We won't know until things get completed what shipping/customs will cost, but am budgeting $2000 for that. Could be high or low.
Also, something that wasn't budgeted for, was wounded animals. I hit a gemsbok too high in the shoulder[rushed the shot], and lost it. Over there, if you draw blood, you pay for it. That little brain fart cost me $925, to shoot another one.
Probably, if I round it off, I'll have just shy of $12,000 in everything, but that is paid out over 3 yrs. You can do it cheaper, by booking a shorter hunt/fewer animals/ little or no taxidermy. But I figured its my once in a lifetime trip, anf went for the gusto! ;D

HH, I was told over there, that gemsbok and kudu rugs need to be hung up. The hair is hollow, similar to pronghorn. If you want to make it a "walk on rug", zebra, and blue wildebeast, are the best.

Congrats on the awsome trip. What style did you hunt? sit over water hole, or drive around till you seen the animal then stalk them? I have been there twice, but only filming the hunt. I can't say i would go over there from my experince and hunt, but it is a whole diffrent world over there. Congrats

Due to feet issues, that I have had the last 2 yrs., I shot 3 animals spot and stalk, and 4 at waterholes. Nothing was shot from the back of the truck. I can walk a coupla miles, but just couldn't do an all day marathon. My son, however, is in excellent shape, and walked over 100 miles in 10 days to take his 7 animals. BTW he used a NEF handirifle, .30-06, and got 7 1 shot kills.
