Hey Guys..
The "SOGGY BOTTOM BOYS" are on the board!!! I managed to take a decent 7 point buck Saturday afternoon. I had a speaking engagment at the Faith Hill Church in Kokomo Saturday morning so I had to hurry to the stand for an afternoon hunt.
About 5:00PM I had a really BIG 10 pointer moving in the direction of my stand and there was also a doe just to the left of him. The BIG BOY stayed high on the ridge and the doe turned and followed him. A few moments later, I saw this 7 pointer coming out of the swamp and creekbottom.
He ws headed directly at me and I was standing up with the ol' Mathews LX innhand and ready to draw when the buck turned slightly and started to follow the other deer. I had used my laser rangefinder and I KNEW the tree was 30 yards away and he was just beyond it. I turned on the site pins and held the 30 yard pin right behind the shoulder. The Archer's Flame nock showed me the path of the arrow as it disappeared behibd the shoulder and passed thru the buck and into the ground.
The buck managed to cross the creek and I had the unfortunate task of wading across and getting him.. (The perils of deer hunting and having short legs.. ha ha) My hunting buddies call him an 8 pointer but I don't consider the one as an actual point. Part of it is broken off and maybe an inch is all that is left.. Oh well... he will look GREAT in the freezer.
GOOD HUNTING FRIENDS.. Bud Fields

Please post 9 points for team 10. Last night around 5 pm I shot a 4 point buck through the lungs from 25 yards. Nice short tracking job. I had three more bucks walk past me as I was waiting in my stand after the shot. One buck was rubbing a tree and all I could see was the top of a 20 foot tree flying around. I have a picture if someone would post it for me. Heading out shortly for a doe or a turkey!

put "freezer fillers" down for a 11 points, i shot a 6 point buck this morning in urban (i may need a judgment, he has 6 points 3 little ones you can just hang a ring on and 3 larger ones i'll post a pic later, farmer picked the first 2 passes of corn and at 7:00am he come out walked right in front of me at 15 yards by the time i got my bow in hand he was 23 yards and 1/4ing away got both lungs and he only went about 50 yards stayed in the picked rows all the way found my arrow in perfect shape (it cut thru a rib bone on the way in) i love those wasp jak hammers.

SCOREDA very nice deer. Some good eating for sure. However - the rule does state that a point has to be an inch long to score as a point.. Those "ring hangers" ( A Texas rule ) don't quite make that do they? The one point on the left antler by the browtine looks clsoe to an inch.. So is it a 3, 4 or 6 pointer?

................ found my arrow in perfect shape (it cut thru a rib bone on the way in) i love those wasp jak hammers. SCOREDThey are bad boy broadheads to be sure. I wish I could get them to fly well out of my crossbw. They want to open on launch and I get a flier that is off by 3 or 4 inches at 30 yards.

Gene, deer should be scored after ground shrinkage.LOL.And by the way, I got that bow back and it makes alot less noise now and man it shoots good. They replaced the plastic pockets with metal ones. And I'm a happy hunter.

didn't see the "1 inch rule", so that makes him a 4 point(barley on the 1) as for the wasps in your crossbow have you tried putting the band at very front or a double band. Grappledad, glad they took care of it for ya, and your happy, i would have never thought to look at those pockets i did think it was pretty loud though. HH sorry i don't do the the snack sticks anymore too time consuming and this guy is already in the freezer, loins butteflyed and run thru the tenderizer and rest ground for the landowner(they get the first deer i take on their land and it includes the process).

didn't see the "1 inch rule", so that makes him a 4 point(barley on the 1) Dang that fine print.. OK, we will revise your score. I turkey hunted with the JackHammers and it worked fine. Getting ready for deer season though I couldn't duplicate it every time. I did put the band further up on the blade and 9 out of 10 times that worked great. That was not a good enough percentage for me to try. Not sure about the double banding. Is it possible to keep them from opening up at all?

I was out Sunday and had no luck but have an Atterbury draw and a chance to go a second time with a friend. I have had good success there. Hope to get things started soon with the crossbow.Maybe this weekend. Never fear we will get on the board when the gun season comes in. Have a three day hunt in Wisconsin and the annual muzzleloader excursion to southern INdiana so the best is yet to come. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy the time outdoors. Schoolmaster.

I take it pretty serious. My kids eat it almost as fast as I can get it. Deer is about the only red meat we eat and we go through about 11 a year.
