Someone called me asking if I had heard anything about this. I haven't, is it true, is DNR considering this? Not true.. From the NRC Meeting minutes.. www.in.gov/nrc/minutes/current_agenda/Item_5.docThe DNR is proposing to modify the language highlighted below as a result of comments from law enforcement to the Division of Fish and Wildlife that clarification is needed. The proposed changes would clarify that lifetime licenses that were issued prior to July 1, 2005 (lifetime licenses are no longer issued) are still valid for hunting deer and to clarify that the license for hunting deer with a firearm is valid only during the firearm season established in subsection (b) and the license to hunt deer only with a muzzle loader is valid only for hunting deer during the season established in subsection (c).

BTW - Where have you been? We haven't seen or heard from you in awhile.. Thanks for the info Woody. I've been busy at work. They asked if I would "help them out for awhile" back in November. My hours have been 8am till 6pm, and I have worked most Saturday's. They hit me up with this right before gun season. Gotta pay the bills. I didn't get to do a whole lot of hunting this year for that reason, but I did take two does. One with my bow, and one in late archery with my crossbow. So I have my meat. The only buck I saw this year was a 6 point half rack. But, as I have made clear here, antlers is NOT why I hunt anyway. Looking forward to turkey season this spring, as now there is a flock up around where I hunt in Crawfordsville. I noticed sign in the woods last weekend, so I'm getting ready. BTW, a friend is trying to reach this site, but all he get's is a message that the site is under construction. Can you help us out? Thanks

It appears he is tryingto get on huntingindiana.COM. www.huntingindiana.com/ IS under construction, but that is not mine. Is he copy and pasting this url or retyping it? If he is retyping it he could be getting a letter off or a period or something. That should work. Other than that I don't know what his problem could be.. Any computer gurus on here have any ideas?

Woody-It`s like the so called "urban legends" but someone is always saying that they`ve heard that lifetime licenses in Indiana are going to be called void-you`ve said you`ve had yours for quite a number of years, and it`s not happened so far. I know that mine says it`s in lieu of all present and FUTURE etc., but do you believe the state would ever have a leg to stand on if they tried to make lifetime license holders pay for hunting tags?

I got mine on December 9,1987. It is in the 1400s in numbers. Needless to say it has paid for it self numerous times over. On the back it says - This license is in lieu of: 1) Annual resident hunting license 2) All present and future annual stamps or licenses required to hunt for a specific species. The statement of "licenses required to hunt for a specific species" sounds very binding to me. Personally I considered it a lifetime contract between me and the IDNR. The only way to break it would be for me to die or commit a hunting crime that is punishable by forfeiture of hunting privileges for a certain length of time. I really do believe that if the IDNR tried to get out of it that there would be a mass lawsuit.

Was just a question a friend put to me. But... do you REALLY think the "state" gives a tinkers damn if they have a leg to stand on? They have trampled all over our rights for years, and the ignorant citizens of Indiana have stood by and done nothing. The newest example of this is the antismoking NAZI'S. Talk about trampling on a person's rights! I don't smoke, but it IS a legal substance that they LOVE to collect taxes on. I'm not saying this would happen, but considering the things the state has done in the past, it isn't out of the realm of reality. And is something we should be diligent in watching.

You bet some might want to try, but we are watching very carefully. That would generate a serious class action lawsuit. BTW .. Sorry man-but I`m not with ya on the smoking stuff. I`m in favor of the bans. I don`t suck tobacco smoke down my own throat, and I don`t appreciate sucking anyone else`s down either. Especially not when I`m trying to eat.

Especially not when I`m trying to eat. Don't get me wrong, as I said I don't smoke either. But again, if I OWN a place of business, and I am willing to let my patrons smoke, it is MY business. If some, like yourself don't want to be around smoke, don't go there. If there is such a demand for non smoking establishments, then there would be non smoking establishments opening up. People vote with their pocketbooks. I would be more willing to accept it, IF those towns, and cities that ban smoking were unable to collect a single penny of tobacco tax. Sorry Woody, I guess this isn't really the place to be discussing this. But my original statement remains, the State of Indiana couldn't care less what you, or I want. They have proved that over, and over again. If they choose to recind the LTL, they will figure a way to do just that.

Looking forward to turkey season this spring, as now there is a flock up around where I hunt in Crawfordsville. I noticed sign in the woods last weekend, so I'm getting ready. Where around C'ville will you be hunting? I've got access to ~80 acres that belongs to my boss, with about 10-20 acres butting up to it that the turks run on too. Hope you're not hunting those acres! I'll be south of C'ville, on the west side of Ladoga road before you get to the first stop.....

I believe 202 Main St. was the address. Right on the corner. Went to Ladoga Elementry School for the first half of 6th grade. Good 'ol Ladoga Canners! That was before Southmont. I graduated from North Montgomery High School in 1975. Me and a buddy had access to about 50-60 acres just south of C'ville, on Ladoga Road. It was a HONEY HOLE! We lost it the next year because the farmer leased it out. He gave us permission to hunt another woods he owned, but a 'RICK' that begins with a 'P' decided it was HIS woods, and tore my stand down, and threatened my buddy one morning as he was coming out. Since he lived next to the woods it was a lost cause. Best of luck to you this year!

How far south of C'ville? There's about that much woods that butt's up to my bosses woods that is owned by someone else. Could be the same woods?
