Well, since I could only pick one, I picked the one that I have the most of, Hunters View Ladder Stands. I like the ladder stand for the lack of noise first thing in the morning. Also, they can be used in trees that a climber can't. But, in some cases, a climber is best, and my choice is API. Whatever type, sling seats are the most comfortable for me. I can stay out in the stand all day with a book, water bottle (plus one for the water that wants out later ) and granola bars. For getting them into the field (ladder stands), I made a set of wheels (20" bicycle wheels) that will attach to a ladder stand with a couple of thumbscrews, I ratchet strap the sections together so they don't move around, and pull it behind me as I walk in. Remove the wheels, remove the strap (I use it to secure the stand to the tree at the top), slap the sections together and up she goes! I have used it on the way out as a wheeled cart to get a deer out when I didn't have my real deer cart, although it sure gets the stand messy! In Wi., the rules were changed last year to say that stands had to be taken down or removed at the end of each day, so a lightweight climber gets my vote in that instance for when I need to get up off the ground. Otherwise a sling style lawn chair (with arms) gets the nod if I'm not stillhunting.

A Gorilla climber is all I own, it's comfortable but heavy. I've hunted off some else's ladder stands, don't know the brand but they were fine. I may put a ladder or 2 up this fall but I need a light one as getting back there is rough; any suggestions?

I chose a summit, I have a viper but would like a cobra for bow season (no gun rail). I also have a hunters view chain on that I love if I've got an out of the way spot that I don't want to lug a stand to and from on a daily basis. Can't wait to pull em out and get em' ready for this season!

I still have my Ol Man and can't afford to upgrade. I sat in a buddies Summit and really liked it though. I am a tall guy and must alway buy the biggest platform I can find. My size 15 boots just don't fit on small platforms.
