If they bring back Bobby Knight you'd see the biggest and happiest crowds at IU basketball games than you've ever saw before..let's face it when he was coaching at IU we didn't have a problem at all with **** like this, like his personality or not he's the greatest basketball coach there ever was or probably will be,and I think that IU now sees that they really screwed up when they let him go.......

My Knight thing was meant to be mainly for laughs and not taken to seriously, but at the same time he was the best coach and did more for IU than quite possibly any other IU Basketball coach. The only other good one that I can remember is McCracken (may be spelled wrong). Dakich or McCallum would both be good fits. Although I think maybe Dakich might be better since he is an IU Alum and played there.

You can`t seriously believe Coach would even consider coming back after what the University did to him-the way they treated he and his family. If Knight would even consdier coming back, I`d be more dissappointed with him than over anything prior to this.

yeah coach k wouldn't think of coming back after what they did to him......looking for a new coach should take the rest of the year looking at potentials then on the off season they should act on what they see and like in a new head coach.

Caught a little discussion on Samson tonight on "Jim Rome is Burning". The two guys with Romey were both sure that either IU needed to suspend or fire him, or Kelvin needed to step down. Neither one of them seemed to think that he'd be around next year, or that KS would be coaching at a collegiate level again.

Bob will never return to IU and I don't blame him a bit. I was the biggest IU fan out there. I have not been interested since they fired him. I'm not saying that I will never again be a fan,but things will have to change. Making Dan D the coach would be a step in the right direction.

I don't know what Greenspan was thinking either deerdude - guess he was only worried about W's on the scoredboard and translating that to $ for the university. He was foolish.

If they bring back Bobby Knight you'd see the biggest and happiest crowds at IU basketball games than you've ever saw before. Maybe, at first, but it wouldn't take very many first round exits from the NCAA tournament for the honeymoon to end. Knight is the greatest college coach ever but he has his own well known issues. He is no longer a good fit for IU and neither is IU a good fit for him. I don't really get the hatred for Greenspan. I suppose part of it is due to him not seriously considering any of Knight's cronies, more specifically Alford, but none of them have any realistic hope of meeting the expectations of the job. Beyond that, he is taking the heat for decisions that he did not and is not allowed to make by himself. If Kelvin Sampson had kept himself out of trouble then he would have been considered a great hire by most and likely had a chance to bring home another banner to IU. If nothing else, his brief work, tainted though it may be, served notice to any coach hesitant about coming to IU what can be accomplished here with a little bit of effort.

I could care less about Knight's cronies; I'm a Purdue grad but I still like to see Indiana schools do well. The problem is he brought in tainted blood and thought it would be clean - and that's foolish. He deserves what he is getting. As he holds the position that he does he's line the line of fire for this hire; that goes with the job- if he can't deal with it he shouldn't be in the position.

McRobbie (IU pres) has given Greenspan and two others (names escape me- IU VP, and member of the sports committee) 7 days to complete the investigation and make a recommendation.
There is no provision for suspension with pay in Samsons contract, according to McRobbie...
