Yep, that's how I read it too. We have the same numbers... However, it made it sound like the deal isn't finalized between the House and Senate, so the final figure could be different by the time Bush signs it. I don't really agree with giving a TAX rebate to those who don't pay them either. Just another form of welfare, IMHO. I'm sure that many of those that fall into that category are there for a reason and not using the system, but I still don't like it.

We will see. I will gladly take what I can get. I don't think it is set in stone but I bet it is pretty close to what we will get. The news reported the checks will be mailed out sometime after June or July due to being in the middle of tax season. That's government for you. Immediate economy boost will come in 6 months. I bet they are banking on the feel good spending from a government promise.

From what I read it will cap at $1200.00 For couples filing jointly who qualify (make enough and yet not too much). With an additional $300 per kid, not sure if every kid would qualify regardless of parrent/gardians annual salary.

How can it be a rebate if you haven't paid anything to start with?

Bush didn't have that in his proposal, and the demo's added it in their! I agree that is not right, we are all paying for them. How can it be a rebate if you haven't paid anything to start with?

I don't know what the cap is but just about anyone that makes Indiana's average annual salary and has a dependant will be free from a tax liability and receive a refund.

The entire point of the tax rebate is to stimulate the economy..... the best way to do that is to give money to the middle and lower class people.. that will spend the money immediately... because upper class people (generally) already have money to put back in to the economy any refund they would get would be more likely to be put in to savings. Here is an article about the tax rebate package..... money.cnn.com/2008/01/18/news/economy/rebate_how_it_works/index.htm?postversion=2008011812Also according to the article if you made less $3000 then you get no rebate at all... so those people that are abusing the system (to the extreme) will get nothing not even the $300 per child. (as the way I understood it)

IF you get it, keep this in mind.
The bible has 2,350 verses on money, more than on any other subject.
So spend it, save it, or give it wisely.

Caveat emptor, no politician ever "gave" anyone anything without taking it from someone else. Watch your pay stub if this gets passed, if your payroll tax rate suddenly changes go to your payroll department and ask to see your W-4, odds are your exemption status has been changed without your knowledge. That's how Bush,Sr. pulled off his alleged "tax rebate".
