I got this email from a friend and am just passing it on..
Indiana State Police Troopers recently received these instructions at a recent meeting:
Indiana State Police are going to start cracking down on speeders. Their new slogan is "Lower Speeds, Less Crashes, Save Lives".
Per their Superintendent they are going to start issuing citations for: 1) 6 miles over the speed limit. 2) Failure to Yield 3) Improper Lane Movement (which includes not signaling 300 feet before you change lanes if traveling over 50 mph or not signaling at all) 4) Following too close (this is a $160.00 ticket by itself!!!!!) 5) Passing an Officer
Just an FYI. This is information that a friend's husband was given at his post meeting yesterday. They're going to start cracking down.

If you pass an officer you are stupid and deserve a ticket. I saw a guy on 31 drive right behind a trooper who was going the speed limit. He followed him for a couple of miles and then decided to pull out in the left lane and pass the cop. Needless to say he got pulled over as soon as he went around. WHAT AN IDIOT

You'd have to be going twice the speed limit to pass one around here cause they are usually going half again as much themselves, on and off duty.

It is also kind of stupid to follow a cop 10 miles going 55 in a 70 mph zone, I have seen traffic backed up bumper to bumper for a 1/2 mile because of this. This can also be a traffic hazzard.

If they aren't going the speed limit......they are fair game, but I wouldn't exceed the limit to pass one!

My truck doesn't go fast enough to pass a trooper. I wish I could, and would gladly take the ticket.

Hmmmmmm-So they`re going to begin doing their jobs eh? There shouldn`t have to be a "crack down", they should have been enforcing the law all along anyway.
Hopefully, part of their new enforcement includes them being held to the law as well.

I doubt it.
For most .... as soon as they are sworn in they believe the law no longer applies.

Sounds like they will be giving out more tickets to themselves than civilians. ;D
While I have family members who are in law enforcement, that hardly makes me blind to the crooked and 'attitude impaired' LEO's we have among the ranks. There are some real winners running the Clinton Co. portion of I-65 who are baiting and harrassing motorists. I am in no way biased against the Police, but I am 100% biased against those who are blatantly abusing their badge and their authority.
It has nothing to do with safety here. It is about generating some quick and easy income. Just like seat belts.

Maybe I'm just in my mid twenties, but I think this one is a little ridiculous...

I agree. 6 mph over the limit on a highway or interstate is a toughy!!!!!!

I have been seeing a lot more cops with people pulled over lately. I saw three just this morning going up 65 to work. One even had a semi pulled over. I personally would love to see a cop pull over another cop and give them a ticket, because nearly all of them think there is no speed limit at all.

About time they start getting tailgaters, speeders, and non-signalers.
I do think that cops should observe the speed limit when not on a call. It is hypocritical to issue a citation to someone for doing something that you do yourself. Rude cops really tick me off, because they make it bad for the ones that are just doing their job.

Just wish they would do some enforcement around school Zones, too many people speeding pass me and others doing the speed limit.
