I eat it on my sushi...guess that makes me a urban elitiest I really wouldn't call Ikura, Tobikko, or Masago "caviar". JMO, but they are all quite different and consumed for different reasons.

so for 18 months they were allowed to continue? If you're really trying to protect the resource then why allow so many paddlefish to be harvested befor taking action??

No different than infiltrating a drug trafficking ring...... It takes time to gather evidence, figure out who the players are, who the "big fish" are versus the guppies. I'd venture to guess that yesterday's arrests were just the beginning...

Caviar is tasty stuff. About the only time I've ever had the opportunity to eat any was at high priced buffets at Vegas & such.

Congrats to the DNR & Co's for another poacher ring bust! However I can't help wondering if Poaching, in general, on all game species wil be up this year. Especially Deer, with the price of meat & other items, going up for one reason or another.

There is a legal market in some states. but I don't think Indiana has enough to allow it. I do think Missouri allows the harvest. But there is a worry that the caviar market will deplete the species as it has the sturgeon species around the world.
