I was speaking only for commercials btw. Ah, okay--I guess it is true only for commercials. I guess this requires the alcohol companies to be especially creative in advertising--which they are many times!

I'm pretty sure there was a ban on advertising hard liquor on TV for several years. If I recall, it was lifted maybe six or eight years back. They could advertise beer and wine back in the old days before the ban hard liquior ads was lifted.
I hadn't noticed the fact that noone is ever shown actually drinking the hard stuff in the ads, but now that you mention it, I can't remember ever seeing that. Seems like they mostly show it being poured.

They aren't shown drinking ANY alcohol in commercials.

Same reason we have trouble with Extremist from the middle east,its a smaller world today ,tv,internet,others see what they DONT have like us and some things they dont,with school type shootings,its mostly copycat ,rejects see it [if their crazy]as a way to fight back and show 'them' a lesson ,in their little minds,get fame too.
