Is this law getting pushed by small self interests groups, like the ones that passed the OBR though?

IMHO, . . . someone went overboard in attempting to fight the PCR and has opened a can of worms by getting the non hunting public overly concerned about a none issue. That is what happens when someone is prepared to put the entire hunting community at risk in order to push their personal agenda.

a current quote . . . And not a reply to me, btw. DIfferent John, but I think we would get along well. Not even going to bother putting name to the poster. Some will say or do anything, regardless of its overall effect, if they think it will support their current agenda. I think this exact type of bs is what has triggered the Marion Co. issue, and will trigger many more. One or two individuals bent on a mission to produce bigger bucks in Indiana AT ANY COST. Now, I have no real problem with OBR, though it is so over rated its almost a cult thing, and bigger bucks are welcome. But there is a limit to what is fair to all deer hunters. Now, remember, we were 'warned' there would be dire consequences if the PCR's were made legal. Which apparently translates into 'if you cross us on this, we will make you all pay for it, one way or another, regardless.' . . . Maybe I am reading too much into it, but then again, maybe some are reading way too little. . .

Every fire starts as a small spark. However, there is no "group" behind this proposal. It is entirely grass roots.
There is a "group" that is trying to stop it though.
Of course quite a few people on here have made their voices known, both ways. That is good.

The anti PCR/ Pro OBR group has already solicited responses from their supporters about, changing and shortening firearms, down to 10 days Sat thru Sunday week of Thanksgiving, Shortening ML to same length, Archery starting Oct 1 ending roughly Dec 24. Reason being, Booner behind every tree.
There was very little opposition to this on that site.
If you do not like or want this the time to start fighting this is NOW. Get your petitions, to the DNR and to legislates (they are going there too) on for sign up NOW.

It doesn't bother me that anyone wants PCR's to be a current legal weapon. But what bothers me is the people that really want it to go through, and want other hunters to keep an open mind to why they want it to go through, but yet has a problem with other people wanting different firearms to be brought in.
I really could care less if its in or not, and if i had to vote, i'd gladly give my vote for them.

Reason being, Booner behind every tree. That gets proposed multiple times during every proposal session, and IDNR shoots it down every time since it would hamper their ability to control herd numbers. It will never fly with them unless the herd is brought down to a much lower population. So far they have refused to even consider it.

Not to start another OBR debate....But, here is my OPINION on this. Nothing, especially big buck growing schemes, will get changed as long as we are having an extension of the One Buck Rule trial. That is for 5 years more. The statements from the DNR that they could not positively pinpoint that the OBR had any effect on the herd was due in some part to changes that were made during the original OBR time period. IMO - they will not introduce any other changes that could jeopardize the OBR extension trial data gathering. So for 5 years these folks can suggest all they want - I don't forsee it happening. Hmmm... maybe the IDNR folks are smarter than some people give them credit for? .

The only thing wrong with deer hunting in Indiana is the fact that we don't have a SOLID deer hunting organization that does all it can to support and promote the sport.
We do have a group that thinks they are biologists and lawmakers....but not one like I mentioned above!

We have a 'couple' of groups who think they Honest-to-GOD deserve the right to control the hunting habits of everyone else, that is the MAIN problem here in Indiana. They do not care about what the average hunter wants, as they consider themselves 'true' hunters, more 'noble' than the average hunter, and therefore truly deserving of the right to force their will upon others. . . riiiight.

Start an organization.
If you are right, and most hunters in the state feel the same way as you think they do, they should welcome a structured organization to collectively voice their opinions to the IDNR and state legislature.
It wouldnt be easy ...... but if you really feel that what the majority of hunters wants isnt being done then do something to change it.

Why PCR now? If what Woody is saying is to be true, then why the PCR now?? There is currently a handfull of people willing to go to any lengths to get trophy bucks behind every tree. These same people do not care about the average hunter, or in fact MOST hunters outside their little sphere. They do NOT want MORE hunters, they in fact want LESS hunters, and less competition out there. They have condensed the deer hunters into either 'them' or the 'orange horde'. You are either 'of them', or you really do not deserve to hunt anyway. The less hunters, and the shorter they can make the seasons, the better. For them, that is. On some boards, they are still crying gloom and doom and 'woe unto the herd, and to the poor, misguided deer hunters who supported this' . . . . Yeah, it has 'ruined' so many other states, hasn't it?

Quite the broad brush you paint with, John.
Nice to know what you think of anyone that doesn't think just like you do.

Quite the broad brush you paint with, John. Nice to know what you think of anyone that doesn't think just like you do. Nothing of the sort. How exactly am I painting with a large brush there Trent? I was talking about a very specific group of 'hunters', not everyone but me. But you knew that in the first place. I could post hundreds of examples of this bs outlook and you know it. Now, which is it Trent. . . Are you are claiming there IS no such group, or are you mostly offended because you consider yourself among them, and can offer no debate?

While they may or may not want less Indiana hunters, they want the firearms hunters so restricted that they can lease up large chunks of real estate and import OOS'rs. No they do not care about Indiana hunters in general. They want it their way or get out of the way.
