A few of us are meeting today at the Indiana Gun Club... I guess they have a pigeon problem and they have folks come out and shoot at 'em. Shootsa410 claims that if cooked right, they taste like dove, but I dunno...they look a little dry to me.
Anyhow, if anyone's in the neighborhood of 113th and Florida Rd near Geist, stop in and say hello!!!
Just look for 911, he will be shirtless for certain on a beautiful day like today! Pics will be taken.....so stay tuned!

Sounds like fun.
That is a little far for me to drive though.
A full report and pictures are expected.
Scores too...

LOL...I've thrown the clay pigeons there for the boyfriend before! They have a nice "obstacle course" type shooting range...and a heck of a selection of guns to shoot at your fingertips! What a perfect day to help out with their little "pigeon problem"! (Edit...they ARE at your fingertips...don't shoot them AT your fingertips! )

So today, instead of joining us on the skeet fields, 911 decided to work on his honey-do list...what a wuss! Art, Tony and myself took advantage of an absolutely picture perfect day to break some clay! It was the first time ever shooting clay for Tony and myself, other than hand throwing out in a field somewhere. We had a great time, Art and I shot 4 rounds, Tony whimped out after 2 rounds. Art humbled Tony and I, although in round 3 I managed to sneak within one "hit" of Art. Scores ranged in the low-teens for Tony, high teens for yours truly, and low 20's for Spancake. It was a real eye opener adjusting to how fast those things come at ya!!! I'm definately hooked....so now I need to add a $2000 skeet gun to my wish list...... (my wife's gonna kill you Art!). I did manage to get a couple cool pics of Art in mid-shot....one where he just busted the clay, the other has the shot on the way to the skeet. Great time, can't wait to do it again! BTW, no pics of myself shooting as everyone was too busy admiring my form instead of taking pics of me!!!! Tony getting a shooting lesson from Art: Art just before destroying another bird: BANG! Muzzleblast: Another hit! Close up of clay pigeon guts!

Out of town, hunting 7 of the next 9 weekends.......plus gone a week bear hunting! So I'll do honey do's now. I like going to the gun club on Wed. evenings for trap or skeet shoot and over the summer. I also like their sporting clay shoot. It is good fun. We will HAVE to do that. Art and Travis: you better be honing your turkey skills for the contest! I just got a secret weapon for my dad and for blind hunting, a real tom decoy and a real hen decoy!

Looks like a lot of fun......I used to shoot skeet 2-3 times a week until the local range closed. The next closes range was 30 miles one way so kind of lost interest. My favorite skeet gun was the 28 ga Brownings Citori. At the local range there was a guy who shot with his daughter. She was 14 and could humble you any day of the week. Most of the time she scored 23-24 but Ive seen her shoot perfect rounds many times. It was fun to see new guys shoot with her. h.h.

That would be impressive to see H.H.!!! I can't imagine a young teen being able to swing a shotgun like that, let alone a young lady!!!

Man...... Now I know why Art, aka Shootsa410, shoots a 410 instead of the 12 gauge!!! Dang my shoulder is sore this morning!

Her father and her shot every day the range was open. The first time i shot with her she laid down a 25 and by the 5th station she had me talking to myself. She was a very polite young girl and i often wonder what happened to her after the range closed. h.h.

Too much work to do around here in the spring for me to get there this time of year. I need to go this summer though. I threw my 13 yr. old grandson some pigeons out back to try out the new 20 ga. I got him for Christmas and he hit 15 out of 17. I was really winging them out there with the hand thrower too, no floaters. The kids a natural.
BTW- It was probably you I heard shooting. I'm only a few minutes away and can hear the club from here.
Nice pics bsu

It sounds like a blast. I have never had a chance to try that out, other than a few hand thrown shots many many years ago. I have a 16 ga Ithaca featherweight, with a full choke barrel that was shortened about 3 inches so its not exactly choked much I am guessing. I also have an old stevens 410 bolt action. Either one of those worthy of shooting skeet with?

I'd definately ditch the full choke on the Ithaca and go with Imp. Cyl or an Open choke. You'd have to be a crack shot to bust those things with a full choke.
